EN-52445 Camshaft Tool

- 2019-later Silverado/Sierra trucks with 3.0L Diesel (RPO LM2)
The camshafts on the 3.0L Diesel (RPO LM2) engine are contained in a ladder assembly, which is removed and installed onto the cylinder head as an assembly. This ladder assembly is mounted to the cylinder head with M5 fasteners, which cannot be used to draw the ladder assembly onto the cylinder head. EN‑52445 installs onto the ladder assembly, and includes an alignment bridge to hold the camshafts in the timed position, an adjustment plate to hold the camshaft trigger wheel (reluctor) in the timed position, and a remover and installer plate and hardware.
To set timing, the adjustment plate is placed on the ends of the camshaft and seated to engage the camshaft trigger wheel. The bridge is installed over the flats of both the intake and exhaust camshafts, and tightened to the cylinder head if the camshaft ladder assembly is not being removed from the cylinder head.
If the ladder assembly is being removed, the remover and installer plate is installed into the ladder assembly before the bridge is installed to the camshafts, and the bridge is fastened to the remover and installer plate.
The J-43301 remover handles (not included with EN‑52445; available separately) are installed into the plate, and the ladder assembly can be removed once its fasteners are removed. For installation, J-43301 handles are used to position the ladder assembly with EN-52445 installed in the correct position. The bolts included with EN-52445 are installed through the plate into the cylinder head, and tightened evenly in turn to seat the ladder assembly.
Once the ladder assembly is seated, the ladder assembly fasteners can be installed and the timing set. Unapproved methods will damage the valve train or cylinder head components.
